April 28th Week of Trees

When photographing large groups of trees in the same photo I learned a great technique. It is always great to have a lead tree that is going to catch your viewers eye. A tree with a huge knot or weird design will usually do the trick. One good thing about taking pictures from home is the endless amounts of trees surrounding my house. I have so many options all within a thirty second walk from my house! I learned that trees can act as leading lines in some scenarios. A landscape photo with trees above is a great way to guide the viewers eyes out to the main part which is the landscape. A good thing about trees is the endless amount of angles you can capture.

I really like all of the videos and articles. Shooting landscape and nature is my favorite type of photography. The tips and help I got from the articles really helped improve my tree photography. The example photos of trees were very stunning and beautiful. I tried some of the techniques in my photography, so I hope it looks good!

Overall I think this was a very successful assignment. I miss having a good quality camera like the Canon I used at school. My cellphone is not the highest quality but its definitely not the worst either. I took all of these photos in my yard and in the wildlife preserve behind my fence. I like the wide variety of trees my area had to offer. I had oaks, pines, redwoods and many more. I think it might have been better if I had gone for a walk in a state park or on a hiking trail but I didn't. Photographing nature is one of my favorite things to do, especially trees. I might go back out there and try and get some better photos. One of my favorite things about my tree photos is the leading lines. My index print is below.
