The term HDR in photography stands for high dynamic range. This means that your camera will take over and under exposed images, so you can combine them together and highlight the best details from each image into one final image. Landscape photos can often have a lot of contrast between the sky and the land. If you use HDR, you can capture the details of the sky, without making the land look too dark. HDR does not give you good results when you use it for photos with lots of movement. If you are photographing very vivid pictures then HDR can sometimes wash out the colors.
Overall, I think I had a successful HDR photography assignment went well. My first shoot was on Tuesday, and that did not go very well. I forgot to use a tripod when taking my photographs, so when I tried to combine them into one HDR picture it was very blurry. It was also a challenging task finding a good landscape picture without a fence or building in the photograph. If I had been in a more remote location with just mother nature, I would have had a much better photo. I like the color difference between the green and the white trees. I changed the contrast and exposure in photoshop to get the slight color change in the sky. I also like the way the tops of the trees form together to create that interesting line at the top that goes up and down. I think that if I had just focused on the trees and sky from this location, then the photo would be much more boring because there are less details in the image. If I could redo the photo, I would have made sure to not included the middle school gym in the right side of the photo.
