Having good composition is a key element to photography. I learned composition can be a very difficult subject to define. Some people view composition as a set of ingredients that you can choose to pull out while you are shooting. Patterns are a really great composition technique. Patterns are often super simple, yet us humans still find them very interesting to our eyes. Symmetry is also a very common composition element. I learned that it is good for shooting a strong point of interest subject. A photo of a highway with grass fields on both sides would make for a good photo. Sometimes it is best to completely avoid symmetry.

Texture is a great tool to have in your composition toolbox. I learned that texture photos come out the best when there is direct light hitting the subject at interesting angles. Depth of field will drastically impact photo composition. It can isolate a subject from the background. Lines are good also. Leading lines are a great way to capture your main subject. They help the viewers eye and lead them to the subject. Lines also can make patterns which are creative and fun to photograph.

I think that this assignment went well. I traveled up the coast to a secret spot of mine. It has been a little challenging getting good quality photographs because I only have my cellphone to use as my camera. I really like the contrast that the flowers had in my first photo. They were super bright which made for a good picture. Although the yellow flower photo is not the most clear, I really like all of the shapes in the picture. I think if I were to do this assignment again I would want to have a better camera. The location I went to is super beautiful but my phone does not capture the true beauty. I find it interesting how the yellow line in the road leads your eye to the grass fields and landscape.
